Engr. Benard Akinwande conducts and supervises continuous maintenance and repair services on laboratory equipment utilized in health facilities supported by the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN). He oversees the installation, certification, calibration and servicing of equipment and laboratories such as molecular diagnostics, clinical chemistry, microbiology, tuberculosis, research and training laboratories as well as the BSL 3 laboratories supported by the Institute.
Engr Akinwande has over 20 years of experience and service in the Institute and the private sector. Within the Institute, he has worked as a Maintenance Officer and Biotech Officer.
He earned a National Diploma, Higher National Diploma, and Postgraduate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Federal Polytechnic Bida, Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, and Federal University of Technology Akure, Ondo State, respectively.
He is a registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), an NSF Enhance Biosafety Cabinet Certifier from NSF, Michigan, USA, and has other certifications in Biosafety Cabinet technology, HVAC system and Laboratory design, Laboratory equipment calibration, and Metrology and Measurement Uncertainty training.
His hobbies are reading and travelling, and he is married with children.
